$35.8M bridge upgrade welcome

A CLUSTER of 28 bridges in Northern Victoria, including one on the Nhill-Jeparit-rd at Jeparit, will be strengthened and upgraded under a $35.8 million Labor Government funding commitment. Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes has reportedly secured millions of dollars in Andrews Labor Government funding from the Stronger Country Bridges Program, with $35.8 million to be allocated towards the strengthening of 48 bridges in rural and regional Victoria. I am pleased to announce this vital funding which will significantly improve the freight capacity and safety of these bridges, securing jobs, improving productivity and reducing business costs, Ms Symes said. Having met with businesses, transport and freight companies and community and business representative groups in recent months, I am aware of the barriers to productivity and expansion as a result of inferior bridges, she said.
