$600,000 works for Seymour line

12 Apr 2016 North Central Review (Kilmore), Melbourne (General News) MORE than $600,000 in maintenance and upgrade works will be carried out on the Seymour-Shepparton line, according to Member for Northern Victoria, Jaclyn Symes. The works will take place over the weekend of April 16-17, with V/Line crews working around the clock on a range of track, sleeper and station improvements. Works that will be carried out include the replacement of hundreds of metres of rail and 300 sleepers, Ms Symes said. Sections of rail will also be replaced near Heathcote Junction and Kilmore East. Mud holes will be removed at the same time, as part of these works. The full re-painting of Seymour Station, which will take a few months to complete, will also begin over the upcoming weekend. Around 40 V/Line staff and contractors will be working on the project across the two days. To enable these works to take place safely and efficiently, V/Line train services between Southern Cross, Seymour and Shepparton will be replaced by coaches on the weekend of April 16-17. These train-replacement coach services will be free and customers are encouraged to allow an extra 45 minutes for their journey. Normal train services will resume for the morning peak on Monday, April 18. The last major upgrade on the Seymour line saw close to 52000 sleepers replaced, a bridge between Wallan and Kilmore East rebuilt and platform works at Donnybrook, Wallan and Broadford.
