The Victorian Labor governments budget released on Tuesday, promises big spending roads, health and skills for rural areas in a bid to attract votes in the upcoming election. Member for Northern Victoria, Jaclyn Symes, has touted the budget for the biggest regional road maintenance blitz Victoria has ever seen.
The budget allocates $941 million to fix the regional road network, including $56 million maintenance uplift for VicRoads North East Region including the Murray Valley Highway. Across the state more than 1000km of roads will be repaired, resurfaced or rebuilt, Ms Symes said.
