Cast a line and catch a trout
05 Sep 2018 Seymour Telegraph, Seymour VIC (General News)
The Goulburn River has received 2000 monster rainbow trout, weighing up to 4 kg each and a combined seven tonnes.
Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes helped release the fish on Thursday, before the trout season kicked off on Saturday.
The Goulburn is one of our most iconic rivers and always draws a crowd of excited fishers to celebrate the start of the trout season, Ms Symes said.
This year were taking the excitement to the next level by giving families the chance to tangle with a trophy-sized fish.
Fishing is a healthy and positive family activity that gets kids away from their screens to learn and have fun in the outdoors.
Whether youre new to fishing or an old-timer, theres nothing like the excitement of feeling a big fish on the end of your line, she said.
Victorian rivers and streams are now open to trout fishing.
All lakes, including Lake Eildon and the Eildon Pondage, are open to trout fishing yearround.
