HEATHCOTE CFA will receive $310,000 from the state government to go towards the purchase of a new vehicle for the brigade. The new vehicle will be a CFA medium tanker, which holds a 2,350 litre tank mounted on the rear of a dual cab four-wheeldrive. The new vehicle will replace the current brigade-owned utility, which is almost 19 years old. Heathcote CFA captain Carl Watkins said the remaining $50,000 will need to be raised by the brigade. The current vehicle we have is quite old so this funding means well be able to update the brigades vehicle, he said. The new vehicle will cost $360,000 so we will need to fundraise to meet the difference. The grant is part of the state governments volunteer emergency services funding program. Northern Victorian services received more than $5 million of the $13m in funding. Member for northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said she was pleased that nearly one third of the 300 successful grants had been approved to northern Victoria organisations. This Labor government funding is a massive injection into local CFA, SES, and other emergency service organisations across country Victoria, Ms Symes said. Licensed by Copyright Agency.
