20 Sep 2017 Seymour Telegraph, Seymour VIC (General News) One of the regions newest tourist attractions is ready for visitors keen to get into the spirit of spring racing. The Black Caviar Trail of Champions was officially launched on Thursday at Mitchelton Wines, one of the 25 touring sites along the trail. Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes got a first-hand look at how visitors will experience the new regional attraction. The Black Caviar Trail of Champions is a 250 km trail through Victorias premier thoroughbred region. It features racing sites of significance, renowned wineries, restaurants, natural attractions and the statue of Black Caviar on the shores of Lake Nagambie. The trail starts at Flemington Racecourse and journeys through Kilmore, Northwood, Avenel and Nagambie before finishing at Wine X Sam in Seymour. It features 25 sites the number of races Black Caviar won in her unbeaten career. The full touring route takes three hours to complete and allows participants to customise their tour by selecting which sites to visit. The Victorian Governments Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund contributed $20 000 to the $30 000 project, which it is hoped will help drive visitation to the area and boost local economies. The project has created a tourism drawcard that capitalises on the regions best assets and history with the much-loved champion horse, Black Caviar, Ms Symes said. The Victorian Labor Government is helping to build the visitor economy in country Victoria so that more people can find job opportunities in this growing regional industry. The project has been delivered by the committee of Nagambie Lakes Tourism and Commerce and includes a detailed website to guide people through the experience.
