Crossing upgrades nearing halfway
05 Sep 2017 Border Mail, Albury-Wodonga (General News)
ALMOST half of the level crossings in line for upgrades through the Victorian governments safer country crossings program are complete, with the Boralma-Rutherglen Road crossing the latest to be ticked off the list. Boom gates and flashing lights have been installed at the crossing on the Melbourne to Albury line, one of 52 high-risk road earmarked across the state. Twenty-five pedestrian crossings are also due for upgrades by the end of 2018. Northern Victoria MLC Jaclyn Symes said the Boralma works were an important step. With traffic from Wangaratta and the Hume Highway passing through, we are boosting safety for motorists and train passengers, she said. Its part of our $50 million investment crossing upgrades in regional Victoria, to get people home safer wherever they live. Licensed by Copyright Agency.
