Dangerous level crossings now safer

The Andrew Labor Governments upgrades of the dangerous level crossings on Racecourse Rd in Chiltern, Caroll Rd in Benalla, Palmerston St in Baddaginnie, RutherglenSpringhurst Rd, Springhurst, Nagambie-Locksley Rd, Locksley, and Mahers Rd in Violet Town are complete. It will also install automatic emergency exit gates at 25 dangerous pedestrian crossings. The program will be fasttracked, so the most dangerous crossings are upgraded by the end of next year. It is part of the Labor Governments unprecedented level crossing safety campaign, which includes crossing removals and upgrades, and increased fines for illegally crossing the tracks.
