02 Aug 2018 Ovens and Murray Advertiser, Wangaratta VIC (General News) A GRANT of $15,000 from the Victorian Government will help fund the development of a digital archive at the Chiltern Athenaeum Museum. The grant is part of the state governments Anzac Centenary Community Grants Program which has funded initiatives across Victoria that will strengthen the legacy of those who served in World War One. Jaclyn Symes who announced the funding yesterday said the Chiltern Athenaeum Museums digital archive project will draw on the Chiltern Honour Roll and the Museums extensive photographic archive to preserve the stories of Chilterns World War One service men and women. The Chiltern Athenaeum Museum has done a wonderful job of preserving the history and culture of our region and I am pleased the Victorian Government is able to help continue that work with this grant, Ms Symes said. It is important that we maintain the stories of the men and women who served in World War One and give those stories new life by passing them on to future generations. Its fantastic that Chiltern Athenaeum Museum are honouring and celebrating pride for our service men and women and ensuring that future generations will also be able to pay respects through the digitization of their archives. This grant is part of the final round of grants under the Anzac Centenary Community Grants Program which is now complete as the Anzac Centenary concludes this year. Grants for commemorations and activities continue to be available through the Victoria Remembers Major and Minor Grant Programs with applications for the next round closing on August 27.
