Jaclyn Symes (MLC, Northern Victoria) yesterday announced several CFA and VICSES units in the North East will receive additional funding as part of State Governments $15 million Emergency Services Volunteer Sustainability Grants program. The grants aim to assist emergency volunteers across the region continue the crucial work they do to keep the community safe. Those to get funding to purchase operational equipment are: CFA District 23 headquarters in Wangaratta ($50,364); Glenrowan Fire Brigade ($22,875); Wangaratta Fire Brigades Group ($22,925); Wangaratta North Fire Brigade ($21,030); Boorhaman CFA ($10,205); CFA Edi ($16,906); and Whitfield and District Rural Fire Brigade ($24,584. VICSES North East Regional Support also received $5741 to facilitate community engagement and education. Ms Symes said the grants will assist volunteers across the North East in the outstanding job they do in keeping the community safe. The Victorian Government is supporting the significant contribution of the more than 100,000 emergency management volunteers, investing in equipment, training and facilities to keep communities safe. The Emergency Services Volunteer Sustainability Grants Program has been established to ensure emergency management volunteers can continue to deliver their crucial work, protecting Victorian properties and lives.
