Forum to talk about family violence in North East

14 Sep 2016 Wangaratta Chronicle, Wangaratta VIC (General News) FAMILY violence will be the hot topic at a community forum, set to unite people from across the North East tomorrow. The forum in Benalla invites members of the public to share their vision about how the community can work together to prevent and better respond to family violence. Jaclyn Symes (MLC, Northern Victoria) said the forum is one of a series of conversations across Victoria which the State Government has set as part of its priority response to 227 recommendations made by the Royal Commission into family violence. These community forums will provide input into the Victorian Family Violence Action Plan due to be released later this year and I would certainly encourage the local community to have their say, Ms Symes said. We are rebuilding the family violence system that has failed victims for too long. The Labor Governments $572 million support package in this years budget was just the beginning as we develop a Family Violence Action Plan, so women and children no longer live in fear. The forum will be held at 2pm at Lakeside Community Centre. To attend register at www. vic.gov. au/family violenceresponse. Licensed by Copyright Agency.
