The greens are back to their best and the course looks a treat providing absolutely no excuse for your correspondents lousy score. Insect repellent is a much needed 15th club in the bag to keep the mozzies at bay. David Fullager had his putter on fire (restrictions not in yet) with 24 putts to help him take out the monthly medal with a nett 66. He now qualifies for the Medal of Medallists on Saturday, November 19 with the other winners throughout the year. The club championship is taking shape with the following leaders: A grade Edward Carracher 148; B grade Jesse Ballard and Bill Wright joint leaders on 177 and C grade Brian Rosenbrock 192. Edward Carracher and David Fullager are joint leaders of the Burton Trophy on 148. This Saturday, November 12 is the third round of the club championship and the R & K Newnham sponsors day so we hope as many golfers as possible are out there. Life member Arthur Frosts son Ian has been doing well in the seniors coming 4th in the Australian Seniors Order of Merit and leading the Victorian Seniors Order of Merit. He will be in the Philippines next week as a member of the Australian Seniors team competing in the Asia Pacific Senior Championships. We wish him well. John Dewan has been very busy organising the Twentieth Annual Seniors Tournament at Euroa, so golfers; get your entries in by Friday for this great event. Monday, November14 is 4BBB Stableford for men and for women and Tuesday, November 15 is an 18 Hole Individual Stableford. The nine hole balls were won by J Bow, R Richards (36nett) and J Redfern (37.5nett). November 9 will be a nine hole stableford day and then set up for the Shirley Deane 4BBB Stableford Tournament on Thursday, November 10. The chicken run on Thursday, November 3 saw a good field of 23 again playing a par round with Darrel Baldwin winning, on a count back from John Bond, both with plus three. No nearest the pin was recorded. Next week will be a stroke round on the front nine but hit off cannot happen until 2pm due to the ladies tournament. Thursday, November 10 is the Costa Mushrooms Shirley Deane 4BBB Stableford Tournament with entries being taken now by Ronda on 57942382 or 0408 349505 or Mozzy 57942313. NAGAMBIE MENS GOLF THE days winner was Alby Seenan at the Nagambie Golf Club on Sunday. The conditions were ideal for golf, with a light breeze which crossed the course and the fairways and greens playing true, 38 stableford points were enough by Seenan to claim the win after a four way count-back. Runner up went to Barry Cryer putting in one of his usual rounds of slaps, slices, snicks and slogs, with the baseball gripping Phil Hageman and Greg Whiteman needing to get a grip, the others to finish with 38 points. The nearest the pins were difficult to get too, with only two of four going off. Trevor Redfern played the shot of his life but still needed luck to land one on the 13th and Shane McCormick blocking it onto the 16th. Next weeks golf is a monthly medal with Jeremy Ezard on office duty and Wayne Le Cerf in the bar. STRATHBOGIE GOLF CLUB THE Melbourne Cup Day luncheon was held on Tuesday and those in attendance enjoyed horse racing, sweeps, prize wheels, champagne and great food. Only three players ventured out in the morning. Not enough to make it a competition which disappointed the Pres as he had 20 points and would have won. Pity he couldnt have done that on the Challenge Day where he had the same amount of points over the 18 holes. Amazing what a difference a week makes. Saturday was stableford and Ria Pearce, just back from globetrotting, won the day with 37 points. Line balls went to Wally Dunn and Alan Moore. Ria also won the ladies drive and pitch. Grant Pearce won the mens drive and pitch. The club kept the nearest the pin on the 4th, Mavis Brierley won the 8th, Grant Pearce won the 15th and the 17th went to Rob Brownlee who just missed his birdie. SHOOTING EUROA CLAY TARGET CLUB THE Alexandra Clay Target Club conducted two championship events on Sunday, November 6 and Euroas Craig Asquith produced some very good form to win both titles. Beginning with the Double Barrel championship, he shot a fine 44/44 to edge out Alexandra Top Shot Geoff McClure in the shoot-out. The Double Rise championship was next and Craig continued his good form to win this event outright with 17/20, one target clear of the rest of the field. In this event Euroa shooter Tony Rohrlach ran into second place after a short shoot-off with Emma Cox, one of Australias top woman shooters. Tony was also placed in the last event, a 10 target point score running into second place behind Mansfields Mick Ward. Euroa members are reminded that the next competition shoot is on Sunday, November 13 at the Violet Town Shooting Complex with a 60 target medley as the main event. Also on that weekend, several of the Euroa members are entered into the Victorian Championships at Echuca. We wish them every success. EAST CENTRAL RIFLE CLUB THE East Central Rifle Club will be able to acquire a defibrillator thanks to a grant from the State Government. The club was one of 20 across Victoria that will be equipped with a defibrillator under round two of the program. Jaclyn Symes (MLC, Northern Victoria) said when cardiac arrest strikes, theres not a second to spare. I am thrilled to be able to give these local clubs the extra security in case an emergency arises, Ms Symes said. Early intervention greatly increases the likelihood of survival during cardiac arrest. Having a defibrillator means players, parents and spectators can step in and take action until paramedics arrive. A persons chance of survival during cardiac arrest decreases by 10 per cent with every minute that passes. There simply isnt a second to spare. Licensed by Copyright Agency.
