Grant to boost tourism
Nagambie is fast becoming the go-to destination for locals and visitors alike, and a $50 000 Stronger Regional Communities Plan grant will ensure that continues.
The funds were given to Go Nagambie to rollout the key components of the Destination Nagambie tourism strategy, which will see increased visitors and employment opportunities.
The project will implement priority actions identified in the strategy, which was developed by local residents and businesses to grow and enhance the economy and community of Nagambie.
Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said the project will start the Great Ambassadors program, allowing residents to collate and share their Nagambie stories and become advocates when interacting with visitors to the town and the region.
It will also update and improve the Go Nagambie website and social media presence, develop marketing material and integrate the Nagambie Community Voice newsletter with the website and align it with new branding.
It is expected that new employment opportunities will result from increased visitation, the development of new events, and improved promotion and coordination of existing events.
The $50 000 grant from the Andrews Labor Government will help fund and ensure delivery of key components of the Destination Nagambie tourism strategy which will not only increase visitor numbers to this beautiful part of Victoria, but also create employment opportunities, Ms Symes said.
