SEVERAL Landcare groups in the Shire of Strathbogie will share in State Government funding as part of the $2 million 201516 Landcare Grants. Jaclyn Symes (MLC, Northern Victoria) last week announced the funding for the local groups, among 20 groups in northern Victoria to receive grants. The Euroa Arboretum received $15,000 for its school environmental education program; the Euroa Environment Group received $5000 for its 2015 Watershed Year: Euroa Environmental Seminar Series; the Granite Creek Projects Inc. received $10,000 for its ongoing pest plant and animal control project; and Warrenbayne Boho Land Protection Group receives $10,000 for their Brush Em Off Blackberries, Wild Tobacco and Rabbits project. Furthermore the Hughes Creek Catchment Collaborative received $20,000 for their Post Fire Pest Animal Control project, Longwood East Landcare Group received $1000 for controlling weeds after the Longwood East fire and the Strathbogie Ranges Conservation Management Network received $13,000 for their Engaging Absentee and New Landholders project. Ms Symes said the grants are to recognise the crucial role Landcare volunteers play in protecting and enhancing Victorias environmental health. The projects being funded this year will deliver important environmental outcomes for these country communities in my electorate and I look forward to seeing the results of the volunteers hard work in the future, she said.
