23 Nov 2016 Seymour Telegraph, Seymour VIC (General News) Broadford RSL sub-branch has been selected to participate in the Victorian Governments War Heritage Oral History Training Program. The program will provide the sub-branch and community with new ways to preserve and learn about local war history. Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said its also a chance for Broadford to record the oral histories of veterans and to document and preserve their unique personal recollections and experiences. The War Heritage Oral History program will help us preserve and protect the stories of the service and sacrifice of local veterans for many years to come, Ms Symes said. Its also a chance for local students to get valuable workplace training and experience that they can use for the rest of their lives. Training provided to Broadford RSL sub-branch will cover all aspects of recording and exhibiting oral histories, including content (research, interview techniques, transcript and active listening), ethics (ownership, copyright, permissions required to interview, record and publish documentation) and technical aspects (how to use professional recording equipment effectively, preservation and storage).
