Local councils, not-for-profits, community groups and businesses in northern Victoria are set to benefit from the Victorian governments $500 million Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund, with applications now open. Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said the fund presented an opportunity to create jobs, build infrastructure and drive economic growth in northern Victoria. With a focus on creating jobs, improving the liveability of Victorias regional cities and towns, building critical infrastructure, boosting productivity and innovation to support new and emerging industries, the fund will address key challenges and opportunities to unlock regional Victorias growth potential. The fund has three programs with ten public grant program streams: $250 million Regional Infrastructure Fund: Visitor economy, productive and liveable cities and centres, enabling infrastructure and rural development $200 million Regional Jobs Fund: Investment attraction, innovation and productivity, market access and employment precincts $50 million Stronger Regional Communities Plan: Community capacity building and population attraction The fund will also deliver $200 million of projects and programs committed at the election, including the Euroa Saleyards ($500 000), Wangaratta Saleyards ($500 000), Bendigo Aspire Project ($8m), Harcourt Mountain Bike Trail ($1 million), and Wallan Town Centre ($1.5 million).
