On the back of hugely successful 2017 event, Great Seymour Show Off president Jason Ronald (pictured) said the Seymour Agricultural and Pastoral Society wanted to thank the many people from Seymour and beyond who attend the show on October 6-7. Mr Ronald said a great deal of time and effort goes into producing the annual show and it was gratifying to know people appreciated the effort by turning up and supporting the event. He said the Friday night included the band 5 Degrees with Flaxon and Jasper Kayehicks both former winners of the Battle of the Bands in Mitchell Shire. The carnival rides were the best ever presented at our show and the food vendors offered a wide range of delicacies, Mr Ronald said. For the second time fireworks concluded the nights activities and they were spectacular I was told they rivalled those at the Royal Melbourne Show, he said. That included the Australian native animal display, farmer Daryls animal nursery, Stewart Bryants whip cracking, the yard dog competition, Whip Industries motorbike display, the dog high jump (which went close to breaking the world record) and the emergency services display. This was together with the alpacas, goats, horses, cattle and poultry as well as the art, photography, baking and craft. Mr Ronald said the Exhibition Building held the cook off, the environmental displays, the preserves, the produce, plants and flowers. He also thanked all the volunteers, including council members, stewards, judges and especially those who competed or exhibited at this years show. Thanks also to Wendy Lovell MLC for officially opening the show and to Senators Jane Hume and James Paterson for attending, together with Upper House members Jaclyn Symes and Daniel Young, as well as Mitchell Shire mayor Rhonda Sanderson and councillors Bob Humm and Bill Chisholm, he said. The winner of the Kath McLarty Trophy was Coral Cole, a head steward and councillor of the society. Marg Uren won the Elsie Berry trophy and has retired from the craft section after 29 years of outstanding service. Thanks also to the Seymour Telegraph for its support throughout the year.
