Seymours new second court fit for a king
19 Apr 2017 Seymour Telegraph, Seymour VIC (General News) by Alison OConnor
Seymours netball facilities are getting better by the day, with funding for a second netball court at Kings Park announced on Friday. It comes five months after funding was announced to build new change rooms and amenities adjacent to the current court. With a host of netball teams calling Kings Park home including Seymour Football Netball Club, St Marys Junior Football and Netball Club, Seymour Junior Football and Netball Club, Seymour Junior Netball Club and NetSetGo the second court will be welcome news to ease the congestion of the clubs busy training and playing schedules. The clubs have had to juggle their playing and training needs with just the one court, but the second court will make life a lot easier for netballers in Seymour. The Victorian Government and Mitchell Shire Council will jointly fund the $128 328 project, which will go out to tender immediately and is expected to be built by the start of next season. Todays announcement is a clear sign that the Labor Government supports the Seymour community and delivering the sporting infrastructure they need and deserve, Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said. Late last year the netballers were rapt with the announcement of new female change rooms and I promised to work hard to get them their muchneeded second court. A new floodlit second court will allow the clubs to grow and increase training and competition opportunities for both current and future senior and junior players. Mitchell Shire Mayor Rhonda Sanderson said the shire was thrilled that the state government was helping fund the new court. Your support frees up the rates funding which was allocated in our current budget for this court, so we can now invest it in other projects, she said. On behalf of our community, thank you for helping provide this important community asset.
