27 Jun 2018 Euroa Gazette, Euroa VIC (General News) NAGAMBIES recreation reserve and long awaited deep water boat ramp came a step closer this week with a funding announcement yesterday by Jaclyn Symes (MLC, Northern Victoria). Strathbogie Shire Council, in conjunction with the Victorian Government, held a press conference at Nagambie yesterday to announce the funding being made for the upgrade to Nagambie Recreation Reserve and for a new Deep Water Boat Ramp. In attendance were Strathbogie Shire mayor Amanda McCalren, council chief executive officer Steve Crawcour, chair of the Nagambie Recreation Reserve Ian Clinch and chair of Go Nagambie, Tim Goodacre. Strathbogie Council in its 2018-19 budget, also adopted last night, set aside allocations for both projects in the hope of receiving funding. Council had allocated $250,000 for the recreation reserve upgrade and $395,000 for the deep water boat ramp. The Andrews Labor Government is contributing $294,795 to the Loddings Lane boat ramp project through the Boating Safety and Facilities Program and $100,000 to the Nagamabie Recreation Reserve redevelopment through the Country Football Netball Program. The boat ramp, with road access from Loddings Lane, will be supported with car and trailer parking, landscaping, boat landing, road access and signage. Nagambie Recreation Reserve will have the redevelopment of female and male change rooms, umpire rooms, toilets and shower facilities, new all abilities toilet and shower facilities and a baby change room. The project will allow for the development of a female football team and additional junior participation. The Andrews Labor Government is backing Nagambie as it grows, supporting local sporting clubs with improved facilities and assisting our local businesses and tourism operators who are keen to boost tourism opportunities to this great part of Victoria, Ms Symes said. Labor is proud to support these two fantastic projects which will not only boost junior and female participation in sport at Nagambie Reserve but also boost boating tourism on the spectacular Lake Nagambie. The Strathbogie Shire who will deliver these two projects have been strong supporters of the projects and it is great to see the local community get right behind them as well.
