Specialist training rollout coming

16 Dec 2015 Euroa Gazette, Euroa VIC (General News) NAGAMBIE and Avenel primary schools will get access to specialist teachers in mathematics and science, recently announced by Jaclyn Symes (MLC, Northern Victoria). The schools are part of 10 northern Victorian schools and 56 Victorian schools to participate in the State Governments 2016-17 Primary Mathematics and Sciences Specialists initiative. Ms Symes announced that 18 teachers across Northern Victoria would receive professional training as part of the $27 million initiative. Under the initiative, teachers will receive two years of training and support to become subject area specialists in maths and science to work alongside other teachers in Victorian government schools. The schools will benefit from the new specialist teachers who will play a vital role, boosting student outcomes in country Victoria, Ms Symes said. The initiative will be supported by a number of other Education State reforms targeting science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM), ensuring Victorian students are equipped with the skills that industries want and abilities employers expect.
