Numurkah Leader, Numurkah VIC (General News) THE Numurkah and Nathalia hospitals are getting a Victorian Government cash injection over the next year as part of a statewide $10.6b or 6.7% increase on the previous financial year. The Numurkah District Health Service is getting more than $9.90m, or a 3.7% increase on the previous year. The Nathalia District Hospital is getting $2.650m, with a 2.6% increase from the past financial year. Northern Victoria MP Jaclyn Symes announced the record funding for northern Victorias country hospitals last week. We know our dedicated doctors, nurses and staff do a remarkable job and this record funding boost gives them the support they need to keep saving lives and keep people healthy, Ms Symes said. This record boost means better hospitals and efficient care that is first class and accessible, no matter where you live in northern Victoria. NDHS CEO Jacque Phillip welcomed the extra funds, which she said would go into service delivery. The additional funding will allow us to review our current services and make slight changes or increases to service delivery, she said. Its also in recognition to the growth in activity since we opened the new hospital two years ago and the additional work weve been doing. Ms Phillips said the hospital has been responding to increased demand for some services, including primary health, urgent care and the operating theatre. We will look at these areas and put in some longer term plans to continue to deliver health care.
