30 Nov 2016 Kyabram Free Press, Kyabram VIC (General News)
A NEW ambulance service will be established to support Tongala and Stanhope in hopes that ambulance response times can be improved. This new service, based on a successful model trialled this year will feature a paramedic community support co-ordinator and vehicle. The paramedic community support co-ordinator will be an experienced paramedic who can provide a local emergency response, while also training and supervising local volunteer teams who can respond to incidents. Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said the new service was an important step in improving the wellbeing of Tongala and Stanhope communities. Local families in Moira West, Tongala and Stanhope can look forward to the peace of mind that emergency care is close by when they need it most, she said. This is an exciting new model for regional and rural communities where a professional paramedic is providing better access to critical care and training-up dedicated local volunteers to respond to emergencies.
