23 Nov 2016 Seymour Telegraph, Seymour VIC (General News) People of all abilities have an opportunity to become familiar with and confident on public transport at tomorrows Try Before You Ride event at Seymour Railway Station. The event will allow people with limited mobility or a disability to practise getting on and off a VLocity train, V/Line coach and low-floor bus. This event will provide locals with the opportunity to practise using our trains, coaches and buses, so theyre more confident next time they use public transport, Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said. It will also allow parents with kids to familiarise themselves with public transport services, to make it easier next time they travel as a family. The event will run from 11 am to 2 pm and will coincide with the second anniversary of the introduction of the buggy service. The Seymour Station buggy service was established to assist passengers accessing the platforms, car park and bus interchange at the station and operates from 10 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday. A barbecue will be held at the station to mark the occasion, and a travelling exhibition on the history of Travellers Aid Australia will also be officially opened at the station. The not-for-profit service has provided simple, practical, travel-related support, helping local residents move independently and confidently through the public transport system. While the buggy service has been in Seymour for two years, Travellers Aids services have been invaluable to country people arriving in Melbourne for 100 years, and the exhibition tells the story of how Travellers Aid Australia identified a need for travellers and has continued to innovate and grow to meet the needs of travellers today. It will be opened by Travellers Aid Australias chief executive Elias Lebbos at noon tomorrow, and will be free to view until December 12. Licensed by Copyright Agency.
