Upgrade at Tallarook
22 Feb 2017 Seymour Telegraph, Seymour VIC (General News) by Alison OConnor
Tallarook Railway Station will soon have improved pedestrian connections to the town centre and the Great Victorian Rail Trail. A $25 000 grant from the Victorian Government, in addition to a $25 000 injection from Mitchell Shire Council will make the new connection possible. Works will include improvements to pathway connections within the station precinct and directional signage. A spokesperson for Mitchell Shire Council said a feasibility study will determine the best location for the footpath connection, but it was anticipated it will be from Tallarook Railway Station to the Great Victorian Rail Trail, adjacent to the Tallarook Outdoor Swimming Pool. The project is currently in the planning stage, with construction hoped to be finished by the end of 2017, they said. The Great Victorian Rail Trail opened in 2012. The footpath will make it easier and safer for people to make their way from the station across the main road and to the trail. Labor Upper House Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said the muchneeded project aligned with the Governments Regional Network Development Plan. The Labor Government is committed to supporting growth in our regions by building stronger transport connections and stronger country communities and these projects will assist, she said.
