Upgrade to help ageing region

ELDERLY people in Beechworth and Corryong will benefit from $800,000 worth of upgrades to regional facilities.
Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said Beechworth Health Service would receive $600,000 to redevelop shared spaces into an aged friendly community street.
She said the street would include existing rehabilitation services which both residents of the Beechworth Hospitals residential aged care program and members of community could access.
A further $150,000 will help Albury-Wodonga Health implement a safe wards initiative at Blackwood Cottage.
The staff hub will be remodeled to improve visibility and the outside verandah enclosed. Corryong Health will receive $79,500 to install ceiling mounted bariatric lifting systems in two resident rooms at Upper Murray Health and Community Services.
The money will also be used to widen the fire door and install safety fencing.
