State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes announced an upgrade to Nagambie Recreation Reserve, thanks to $100 000 Victorian Government country football and netball program grant, $100 000 from Strathbogie Shire Council, $30 000 from Bendigo Bank and in-kind support from user groups. The upgrade will see the refurbishment of the clubrooms, a female-friendly unisex toilet, shower and change room facilities in the football rooms, an additional toilet and shower facilities in the netball change rooms, an allabilities toilet and shower facility, including a babychange station, and designated umpire change rooms with toilet and shower facilities. A new deep water boat ramp will also be funded through a $294 000 grant from the Victorian Governments Transport Department boating safety and facilities program. The boat ramp has a total budget of more than $400 000, including a $100 000 from council and a $100 000 donation of land from the Ryan family. It will be a dedicated 24-hour public access deep water boat ramp on the Goulburn River with road access from Loddings Lane. The ramp will be supported with car and trailer parking, landscaping, boat landing, road access and signage. Ms Symes said the projects would not only boost junior and female participation in sport at Nagambie Reserve, but also push boating tourism on Lake Nagambie. Strathbogie Shire Mayor Amanda McClaren said the deep water public boat ramp would be a gamechanger for Nagambie and its waterways, increasing the lakes capacity for events and competitions and enabling deep water vessel access for recreational users.
