20 Oct 2017 Wangaratta Chronicle, Wangaratta VIC (General News) THE next stage of regional Australias largest urban renewal project, Station 73 at Junction Place in Wodonga, has been given the go-ahead by the City of Wodonga Council. Jaclyn Symes (MLC, Northern Victoria), on Wednesday announced the council will allow the development to go forward, injecting $200 million into the region over the next 15 years and creating hundreds of jobs in construction and retail. The Station 73 development includes 86 apartments, an entertainment precinct, retail spaces, hotel, public open spaces, offices and a European market hall, which will be delivered by Wodonga-based developer Central Place. The precinct will help cater for the predicted 40 per cent growth in Wodongas population and continue to transform the historic railway precinct into a thriving area to live and work. The Junction Place project will build new homes, boost the local economy and create local jobs in construction, retail and entertainment, Ms Symes said. This development helps showcase country Victoria and Wodonga as a wonderful place to live and work. Construction of the new apartments will commence sometime in 2018.
