NAGAMBIES youth will benefit through the Engage! Program with the employment of a Youth Development Officer over the next three years. Funding to the tune of $110,000 was announced on Friday by Jaclyn Symes (MLC, Northern Victoria) The Shire of Strathbogie has received the funding through the State Governments Engage! 2018-20 Program and will provide the youth worker to coordinate a three year program working with youth aged from 12 25 years. The program will provide formal and informal opportunities for youth to: engage with other people in their local community; to actively participate in community projects and civic events; to build skills and capacity in a range of areas to support learning and study; job readiness, leadership; and health and wellbeing through the provision of structured training and development programs. Ms Symes said 18 organisations in Northern Victoria shared in $1,945,000 in grants for projects that support young people. Engage! Helps young people to strengthen their education, training and employment pathways, and improve their health and wellbeing, Ms Symes said. Young people are a key part of developing and delivering Engage! Projects, which are aimed at a diversity of youth, including Aboriginal young people, youth from culturally diverse backgrounds, LGBTQI, young people with disabilities and young people living in country Victoria. These projects give our youth the hands-on experiences they need to achieve their personal and professional goals and I encourage more young people to get involved. Every young person should have the opportunity and support they need to reach their full potential. Licensed by Copyright Agency. You may only copy or communicate this work with a licence.
