BACKING LOCAL PROJECTS IN THE LODDON MALLEE

14 June 2024

The Allan Labor Government is building on its support for regional Victoria with exciting new projects set to boost local economies, build even stronger communities and give people even more reasons to stop and visit.

More than $5.3 million will support projects across the Loddon Mallee region through the Labor Government’s $25 million Council Support Package. The package, now fully acquitted, has successfully helped shovel-ready projects get off the ground in our biggest regional cities and surrounding towns.

The package funds projects that are designed to increase tourism, improve local infrastructure, strengthen businesses and empower volunteers – with grants ranging from $20,000 and $5 million depending on size and scope.

The Civic Clock Tower in the heart of Swan Hill will be installed with fixed LED screens thanks to over $99,000 from the fund, providing a forum for promotional, community and cultural information, and livestreaming state and national events of importance.

The Council Support Package has backed 27 projects across regional Victoria, and complements the Tiny Towns Fund, which is backing projects that really matter to local communities in smaller towns of up to 5,000 people. Tiny Towns Fund first round projects will be announced in the coming months, with both programs delivered through Regional Development Victoria.

These initiatives are part of the Labor Government’s record $45 billion investment in regional Victoria since 2014, making our regions even better places to live, work and visit.
