Senior citizens in Mitchell Shire will be able to access support and connect with others, thanks to an investment by the Allan Labor Government.

Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes joined Mitchell Shire Council representatives to mark the commencement of works on the Kilmore Senior Citizens Centre. The redevelopment is being supported by $830,000 from the Labor Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund.

Kilmore Senior Citizens Centre will undergo upgrades to deliver an expanded kitchen, two new multi-purpose office and storage rooms, a new entrance and foyer area along with new accessible toilet facilities  and an improved driveway and carpark.

The redeveloped centre will provide a welcoming environment for community to connect, seek support and will provide activities to learn, enjoy and participate with others.

Since 2015, the Growing Suburbs Fund has provided Mitchell Shire Council with more than $29 million in funding towards 31 projects.

Ms Symes acknowledged Mitchell Shire Council for its commitment to the project and financial contribution of $70,000 towards the upgrade.
