The Allan Labor Government has delivered a new aged care home in Mansfield, with the first residents now moving in.
Located on the Mansfield District Hospital site, the 30-bed facility will provide high-quality care for older people in the local community.
Thanks to sustained and significant investment from the Labor Government - Victoria is the largest public provider of residential aged care in Australia.
The dementia-friendly facility is purpose-built to support the complex care needs of older residents, so Victorians can age safely, with dignity and close to their families and support networks.
Each bedroom is part of a ‘small household’, with access to a shared kitchen, dining room, lounge room and sitting areas.
Residents can also enjoy a range of indoor and outdoor common areas to socialise or spend time with family and friends.
With construction of the new aged care facility now complete, refurbishment works are underway on the adjacent Bindaree Retirement Centre.
Following these works, nearby Buckland House will be upgraded and repurposed for community use. These works are expected to be completed in 2027.
The facility was delivered by the Victorian Health Building Authority in partnership with Mansfield District Hospital and builder AW Nicholson.
More than 660 workers contributed to the project, providing a major boost to the local economy.
The project is part of the Labor Government’s Regional and Rural PSRACS Revitalisation Strategy – which is progressively replacing outdated facilities with modern, purpose-built aged care services that better meet community expectations.
The new facility – stage one of a more than $60 million investment – will replace the ageing Buckland House at Mansfield District Hospital.
