Every child, no matter their postcode, deserves a world-class public education close to home.
That’s why Labor has delivered a record investment in school infrastructure – delivering 121 new schools and more than 2,400 school upgrades.
Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes has announced funding for 11 schools in Northern Victoria through the Allan Labor Government’s Planned Maintenance Program (PMP).
The schools are:
- Falls Creek Primary School will receive $170,000
- Beulah Primary School will receive $740,000
- Murrayville Community College will receive $830,000
- Tempy Primary School will receive $170,000
- Gladysdale Primary School will receive $13,000
- Healesville High School will receive $400,000
- Millwarra Primary School will receive $700,000
- Woori Yallock Primary School will receive $250,000
- Yarra Junction Primary School will receive $670,000
- Mooroopna North Primary School will receive $1.1 million
- Banmira Specialist School will receive $95,000
The program funds high-priority maintenance work across Victoria’s government schools.
The funding allows schools to undertake essential work in classrooms and other school buildings such as fixing roofs and replacing windows, maintaining ramps, painting, and resurfacing floors, as well as some external works like improving pathways.
These vital works will ensure local students have modern and safe school environments.
The PMP has now funded nearly $50 million in upkeep projects for 103 schools across Victoria this year alone.
The annual maintenance and compliance budget for schools has grown nearly six-fold under Labor.
Jess Wilson’s $40 billion in cuts can’t happen without cutting support for schools.
The Liberals and Nationals cut more than $1 billion from education last time they were in office.
Only Labor has new solutions to make life easier, safer and more affordable for Victorian families.
