MAINTENANCE BLITZ FOR SCHOOLS IN NORTHERN VICTORIA

Students and teachers will benefit when works get underway as part of another maintenance blitz.

Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said the blitz – which includes repairing day to day wear and tear, fixing roofs and windows, repainting walls, resurfacing floors and replacing windows, pathways and stairs – will soon take place as part of the Planned Maintenance Program.

The program will see 80 schools across the state share in $4.51 million of funding for the works, which will ensure the schools are safe, modern and properly upheld.

Schools included in the blitz:

  • Heathcote Primary School will receive $270,000 for high priority maintenance tasks.
  • Merrigum Primary School will receive $10,000 for high priority maintenance tasks.
  • Devenish Primary School will receive $10,000 for high priority maintenance tasks.
  • Zeerust Primary School will receive $5,000 for high priority maintenance tasks.
  • Gowrie Street Primary School Shepparton will receive $260,000 for high priority maintenance tasks.
  • Bourchier Street Primary School Shepparton will receive $35,000 for high priority maintenance tasks.
  • Red Cliffs East Primary School will receive $10,000 for high priority maintenance tasks.
  • Lancaster Primary School will receive $25,000 for high priority maintenance tasks.
  • Nanneella Estate Primary School will receive $100,000 for high priority maintenance tasks.
  • Boort District P-12 School will receive $160,000 for high priority maintenance tasks.
  • Chiltern Primary School to receive $10,000 for high priority maintenance tasks and structure repair.
  • Middle Indigo Primary School to receive $15,000 for high priority maintenance tasks and structure repair.
  • Beechworth Secondary College to receive $20,000 for high priority maintenance tasks.
  • Eskdale Primary School will receive $15,000 for high priority maintenance tasks.
  • Bandiana Primary School will receive $50,000 for the schools Shelter in Place Building.
  • Everton Primary School will receive $10,000 for high priority maintenance tasks.

In the past eight years, the Andrews Labor Government has invested $12.8 billion in building new schools and more than 1,850 school upgrades, creating around 17,400 jobs in construction and associated industries.

The Labor Government is now ahead of schedule in opening 100 new schools by 2026, with 75 new schools opening between 2019 and 2024 – ensuring every student can access a great local school and a quality education no matter where they live.
