STRENGTHENING NORTHERN VICTORIA THROUGH MEN’S SHED GRANTS

The Allan Labor Government is improving the health and wellbeing of communities across the state by allocating infrastructure funding to 28 Men’s Sheds as part of the latest round of the Men’s Shed Funding Program.

Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes announced that Men’s Sheds in Northern Victoria are among 28 successful Men’s Shed Funding Program recipients.

Successful Mens Sheds will receive funding towards the important projects that help them serve their communities better.

Successful recipients:

North East

  • Wangaratta District Men’s Shed will receive $40,000.00 for shed extension to free up space, relieve overcrowding, increase membership, and provide lunch seating.
  • Albury Wodonga Woodcrafters will receive $19,500.00 to upgrade the existing dust extractor.

Mallee

  • Swan Hill Neighbourhood House Men’s Shed will receive $18,150.00 to upgrade the dust extractor and put concrete under the existing annex.
  • Quambatook Men’s Shed will receive $6,505.00 to purchase and install two cooling systems.
  • Cohuna Men’s Shed will receive $4,840.00 to purchase and install solar panels to reduce power costs.

Southern

  • Heathcote Men’s Shed will receive $12,000.00 to purchase and install a dust extraction system.
  • Badger Creek and District Men’s Shed will receive $7,648.00 to replace an unsuitable staircase to make it accessible for all members.

Mens Sheds all over Northern Victoria provide a welcoming place for people to connect, socialise, learn new skills and work on common projects together.

Recipients from the latest round also include the Benambra Men’s Shed, which will receive $100,000, and the Morwell Men’s Shed, which receive $77,589, towards the construction of new Men’s Sheds.

Other grant recipients include the Badger Creek and District Men’s Shed, which will receive $7,648 to replace a staircase, making it more accessible to their members, and the Point Cook Men’s Shed, which will receive $50,000 to convert a building into a Men’s Shed and cultural facility.

The Allan Labor Government has proudly provided 487 grants to Men’s Sheds since 2015 through an annual $1 million investment.
