Artists, creative organisations and communities in Wodonga and surrounding areas will have access to upgraded spaces to create and present their work, thanks to an Allan Labor Government program designed to improve and repurpose local facilities for creative use.

Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes announced Wodonga City Council has been awarded $150,000 to upgrade Hothouse Theatre in the latest round of the Creative Neighbourhood Infrastructure Support Program.

The grant program enables local councils to provide artists and creative practitioners with fit-for-purpose, accessible and secure facilities where they can develop their work and careers, and opens up creative spaces for local communities across the state.

Wodonga’s Hothouse Theatre will be upgraded to include a multi-use space that enables performances workshops, exhibitions, conferences and collaborative workspaces.

A total of five local councils have received grants to undertake upgrade projects.

The Creative Neighbourhood Infrastructure Support grants are part of the Victorian Government’s $6 million Creative Spaces and Places program, and are supported by the Community Support Fund.
