UPGRADE TO BENEFIT LOCALS, FREIGHT AND FARMING

28 October 2022

The Andrews Labor Government is making it safer for people travelling on the Northern Highway, south of Kilmore, as part of a multi-million-dollar upgrade at the intersection of Wandong Road (Epping-Kilmore Road).

The upgrade would also improve traffic flow, with plans for the intersection include a new dual-lane roundabout, which will reduce the risk of crashes for people travelling on this key regional route.

The roundabout has been designed to accommodate oversize and over mass vehicles, supporting the critical freight and agricultural industries that rely on this major arterial road – supporting future growth in the Mitchell Shire and surrounds.

The roundabout has been designed to be integrated into a future Kilmore bypass.

Service relocation and pre-construction works are now underway, with major construction planned to commence in 2023.

The Labor Government will work with Mitchell Shire Council to consider design and landscaping options for the location, which serves as one of the main entry points to the town.
