WODONGA TO HOST AUSTRALIAN DRAGON BOAT CHAMPIONSHIPS

The country’s best dragon boat racers are coming to Wodonga for the 2023 Australian Dragon Boat Championships providing a feast of sport action, boosting our local economy and jobs.

Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes announced the event will be held in April as part of the latest round of the Andrews Labor Government’s Significant Sporting Events Program.

The 2023 Australian Dragon Boat Championships will hit the river from 20-24 April in Wodonga, welcoming over 3,000 athletes representing their club and state.

When competitors, support teams, officials and spectators come to town to stay and compete over several days, the benefits are felt right across our community including increased demand for accommodation and hospitality and increased business for other local firms and suppliers.

The Significant Sporting Events Program supports organisations to deliver national, international, or regionally significant events. Since 2014 this program has secured more than 560 events, with more than 280 staged in regional Victoria.
